Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are the objectives of the full immersion programme?

To make you a more confident English speaker, writer, presenter, etc and to meet your personal expectations (as far as the language is concerned).
What will I study?
We will focus on what we discussed and agreed upon during the free 30-minute introductory call. The course will be 100% tailored to your needs, be it grammar, conversation, reading, comprehension, etc. All sessions will combine theoretical and practical skills, whilst maintaining an emphasis on inter-active learning. This is not a standard ‘classroom-like’ course; there is no rigid syllabus, no books to order, no preparation needed.

What is the level of English required for a 'full immersion'?

Whether you are a beginner, just starting out, or an advanced learner aiming to hone your skills, I will help you build your confidence with regards to reading, writing, listening, and speaking. However, basic English is preferable (B1) if you want to make the most of this programme.
How many 'students' will participate in the full immersion programme?
The 'Immerso' programme is a one-to-one coaching experience designed to your personal needs. You will literally be 'immersed'. Not only are there one-to-one teaching sessions, there is also plenty of conversation time with the coach and his family members, and during other activities such as sightseeing. A fairly intense immersion but in a supportive environment with constant feedback. On an exceptional basis, two people can attend but only if they are of similar English level and know each other well (they will likely have to share a bedroom).

What does a typical day look like?

Again, this is not set in stone and entirely depends on your objectives and interests. A typical day may start around 8am or 9am and will consist of learning activities centred around specific verbal, structural, and grammatical points. Although this can vary, you will receive an average of 25 hours of private tutoring per week. We will break for lunch around 1pm. The afternoon will comprise either more language activities or exploring London and its landmarks. In the evening, we will cook and eat dinner.
Where does the “immersion” take place?

You will stay at our family home, a semi-detached Victorian house located in North West London (map), close to the beautiful Hampstead Heath (a large park / forest) and 30 minutes from the city centre. You will have your own bedroom. We will have all our meals with my family (unless you decide otherwise or would like an evening out). Dietary requirements will be taken into account. Transfers to/from the airport or train station can be discussed in advance (Eurostar station is 15 minutes away). Photos of the house available in the gallery.
What do I have to bring with me?

Whatever you would take with you when visiting a friend, plus a notebook and a pen. Additional equipment will depend on the activities you choose. Good walking shoes are recommended. Swimming, running, and tennis are all available on Hampstead Heath (7 minutes walk).
How long does the programme last for?

Five to seven consecutive days provide the optimal learning experience, allow time to settle down and work comprehensively on specific aspects of the language. However, the duration is entirely flexible and based on availability.
